We have a range of laboratory and administration facilities that support research work taking place across our hospitals.
BioRepository
Facility for smart storage, processing, retrieval and rearraying of samples prior to high throughput measurements.
ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ blood and stem cell biobank
Tissue bank for samples from patients with haematological malignancies and normal individuals, including cord blood.
ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ clinical trial unit
Leading studies that translate the extensive scientific advances provided by ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ Science into clinical application.
NIHR ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ clinical research facility
The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ clinical research facility provides dedicated clinical research facilities for the conduct of ethically approved experimental medicine studies in patients and healthy volunteers of all ages.
Clinical engineering innovation
Clinical Engineering Innovation (CEI) aims to identify novel, unmet clinical needs and translate these into innovative medical technologies and processes to benefit patients, staff and the wider health economy. Our in-house team contains both design engineers and clinical scientists providing experience across a large variety of areas. We have detailed knowledge of the regulatory requirements and funding applications to allow innovative products and ideas to be bought into patient care.
Core biochemical assay laboratory
The Core Biochemical Assay Laboratory (CBAL) offers a high quality cost-effective analytical service. Since its inception in 2008 the laboratory has worked closely with many research groups across the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ Biomedical campus and helped commercial companies develop and evaluate their novel assays.
Laboratory research services
We provide sample analysis for clinical research studies.
Micro-array core
Facility including a full service, from the labelling of RNA samples to the hybridisation and scanning of arrays.
MRI core
The MRI core facility has two dedicated members of staff, a research physicist and a radiographer.
PET/CT facilities
The PET/CT department is located on Level 2 off the corridor heading to the Oncology/Radiotherapy department.
Tissue bank
Leading studies that translate the extensive scientific advances provided by ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ Science into clinical application.
